Social Media and Public Relations Committee Chair Announcement

It is my honor and pleasure to announce that I have accepted the position of Chairman of the Social Media and Public Relations Committee. My goal is to get our name and events out there to the public as well as internally to club members, in a fun and exciting manner. Our primary goal will be to promote the sport of sailing and specifically to promote the sport of sailing at the Indianapolis Sailing Club. I believe we are one of the best kept secrets around and hopefully we can change that, not just to increase membership, but to increase participation on the water.
Some of the things we would like to do (in no particular order):
- Post pictures of our adult training graduates
- Be active on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok
- Post pictures and videos of racing events.
- Conduct new member orientation at least bi-monthly.
- Post pictures and bios of new members on the members section of our website.
- Promote the sailing academy and summer camps.
- Promote regattas and events - both internally and externally.
- Use a camera boat for on water photographers
- Replace bulletin boards with flat panel video screens.
- Promote our collegiate regattas - we need our IU and Purdue alumni to help cheer on their teams!
- Develop an ISC News Network to find news stories and promote members sailing activities at travel events. These reporters will also conduct video interviews with regatta winners and other key members of the club.
- Post race results from club events and regattas.
- We want to promote sailing at the Indianapolis Sailing Club as a fun, family friendly sport!
So, this is not a one person job - we need lots of help to make things happen. Here are some of our needs: photographers, videographers (someone with a drone is a plus), news reporters (for interviews), social media posters and website helpers.
