Since 1954, ISC has been Indianapolis's home for sailing on Geist Reservoir. The club is open with activities year round. Whether you're a seasoned racer, curious beginner, family with kids, or just looking for a waterfront community -- there's a place here for you. No boat required to join. Volunteer time is expected for all members.
Who joins ISC?
ISC members range from competitive racers to families who come for the summer social scene. Here's what brings most people through the door:
New to Sailing
Always been curious? We offer adult lessons, club-owned boats to learn on, and a community that loves helping beginners get on the water.
Adult training programsExperienced Sailor
Moved to Indianapolis or looking for a new club? We have Sunday and Wednesday racing, regattas, and multiple active fleets on Geist.
Racing programsFamilies with Kids
Youth sailing camps, junior race programs, and a kid-friendly clubhouse with waterfront access -- the whole family will find something to love.

Not sure which type fits?
Associates can race and sail on club and member boats. Many members start as Associates and add a boat later -- your initiation fee credit carries forward.
Flexible payment options -- you don't have to pay it all at once
- Initiation fee: Pay just 1/3 upfront, then the remainder over three years in quarterly payments.
- Annual dues: Pay in full or quarterly (plus a $5/quarter service charge).
- When you apply: Submit 1/3 of the initiation fee + 1/4 of annual dues. The office will bill you for the rest quarterly.
Boat Storage & Parking (additional, if applicable)
If you're bringing a boat, parking and slip fees are charged separately and are due when your boat arrives.
Boats over 20 ft. up to the maximum of 27 ft. require prior board approval.

Member stories
We joined as a family when our kids were 6 and 12. My kids are in sailing camp and I'm active in the Sunfish fleet and WOW (Women on the Water). Everyone has been so welcoming. There's always someone to sail with and it does feel like "our" lake house.
