Mark Boat & Race Committee Training

11th May, 8:00am - 1:30pm

Mark Boat & Race Committee Training -- LIMITED TO 30 PEOPLE -- First come, first serve. (If you are having problems signing up....no worries...just email us. We will hold the spot...something quirky is happening...we are trying to fix it.)

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED--We would love to see families come to this class and learn together.

If you are a social person that does not enjoy racing sailboats, but love being part of a team, you are going to love helping run races at ISC. You will learn one or all of the following skills: drive our mark boats, be an assistant on the Mark Boat, drive the Mary Morse, drop and pick up marks per the Principle Race Officers (PRO) direction, keep score, raise and lower the flags that start each fleet, start and stop the timer, communicate using the radios, and much more?  Mark boats need two people: One to drive, one to drop marks and it is a two person job to help a capsized dinghy.

Please sign up for this training scheduled 8:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, May 11, 2024. This will be a hands on class on the Mary Morse (big yellow pontoon boat) and in the three motor boats.

FREE COFFEE, TEA, HOT CHOCOLATE AND DONUTS from the Amish Bakery--Meet in the clubhouse at 8am.

Mark Boat Drivers: Must have a valid driver's license to operate a motor boat.

Mark Boat Assistants: Any member old enough and strong enough to help drop marks and upright a boat can be trained to assist on a Mark Boat during races. Suggested age would be 12+. Life vests will be required while you are on a mark boat. Bring your own life vest or you can use one of the ugly ISC ones.
