July 4th Celebration and Extravaganza

Make your plans now to spend the afternoon of July 4th at the Indianapolis Sailing Club. We are having an afternoon of activities leading up to the fireworks over Geist. 

We will start the afternoon with a Poker Run in the harbor. This is small sailboats making laps on a very small course receiving a playing card with each lap. Keep sailing until you get a winning poker hand or until time runs out. Best poker hand wins, not the fastest boat. Bring a friend and buddy-up on the boat.  (Arrive at 12:30 pm to sign up; the Poker Run starts at 1:00 pm)

After the boats are put away, there will be a Bocce Ball tournament on the lawn. Bring a partner or find one at the club. This will be a bracket style elimination tournament with bragging rights that should last a year.  (Sign-up is at 3:30 pm, the tournament begins at 4:00 pm) 
After we crown the bocce ball victor, we will be grilling burgers and dogs in the style of the Wednesday Night Racing dinners. Small donation to cover the food cost but there should be plenty to eat.  (Dinner begins at 6:00-ish pm)

When the sun begins to set, find a ride on a keel boat or one of the manned club motor boats with working lights to watch the fireworks up close. (8:00-ish pm)
