Hoosier Legal Guardian Regatta
This Midwest Collegiate Sailing Association (MCSA)-sanctioned collegiate regatta is held every spring at the Indianapolis Sailing Club and is hosted by Indiana University. IU and Purdue square off in this regatta every year along with competitors from up to 6 other MCSA member colleges. This year IU and Purdue will be joined by Ohio State, Northwestern, Case Western Reserve, Hillsdale, University of Toledo and Washington University.
Each college has two sailing teams competing at this regatta, an A team and B team. Teams switch between sailboats in round robin style and courses are short so that the sailors have the most opportunities to race. Teams win points based on their overall place at this regatta. Points are accrued at all MCSA regattas throughout the year and the more points a team has, the better chances they have at securing berths for future regattas the following year.
This regatta and the ISC are particular favorites amongst the college sailors since all of the competitors stay in the clubhouse overnight for this event and the weekend is filled with lots of competitive racing, socializing and fun!
